The Ötztaler Cycle Marathon once again lived up to its reputation as one of cycling’s toughest challenges in the German speaking region. Across 227 kilometers, four alpine passes and 5,500 meters of elevation gain, the 45th edition delivered record-breaking performances, a growing women’s field and a strong global media response.

A total of 4,271 riders from 38 nations took on the legendary course this year. At the front of the field, both the men’s and women’s races produced new course records. Canada’s Jack Burke set a new benchmark in the men’s race, completing the course in an extraordinary 6:29:21.2, improving the previous record by 17 minutes and 41.1 seconds. His day became even more memorable at the finish line, where Burke proposed marriage to his Fiancée.

In the women’s race, Janine Meyer once again rewrote the record books. The German rider successfully defended her title and broke her own course record, finishing in 7:15:46.2. Her performance highlighted the continued rise of women’s cycling at the Ötztaler, with the women’s field growing to more than 431 starters, surpassing 10% of the total field for the first time.

This development also shaped quattro media’s storytelling around the event. Alongside its established production and distribution activities, quattro media produced a 26-minute documentary with a special focus on the women competing at the Ötztaler, entirely in-house for the first time. An expanded production crew, including an additional road crew, a dedicated cameraman for beauty and atmosphere shots and an additional motorcycle cameraman, helped capture the race from new perspectives.

As long-time producer and distributor of the event, quattro media again delivered a comprehensive package of media assets, including a VNR & Unilaterals, Digital Clips, DOOH placements and a 26-minute sports highlight show for ORF in Austria. quattro media also supervised the 15-hour live feed, carried by +35 partners worldwide, including Sportdigital Edge, krone.at, tt.com, kurier.at, kleinezeitung.at, nachrichten.at, vol.at, meinbezirk.at and eurosport.de

On the owned channels of Ötztaler Cycle Marathon / Sölden the Livestream views increased by approximately 41% just within 1 day. The Highlights Clip also saw significant growth, climbing up by 33% within 48 hours. It was the first year that this Clip was fully produced and edited in-house, further expanding quattro media’s ability to create content from the event for audiences beyond the live broadcast.
